Technically, Mamba day is celebrated usually every Apr 13th - the day Kobe played his last game with the Lakers. But with the tragic passing of Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gigi, the world will forever remember the Black Mamba on 8.24 as well as these numbers represent the jersey numbers he wore back then. I believe in LA (not sure if the whole CA state), the day is commemorated as “Kobe Bryant” Day - a day after his birthday (8.23). Not only we are celebrating Mamba Day - in fact Nike declared it as Mamba Week which included a series of sneaker and jersey drop + a few activities by the foundation he left behind. Locally, Nike Park and Titan22 dropped the Kobe V Protro “Big Stage” and “5x Champ” color-ways which instantly sold out. A lot of NBA players are wearing PE’s (player exclusives) from various Kobe releases with most of them expected to release to the general market very soon. Mamba may be out already but the legacy he left behind will remain - from the dreaded “Mamba Mentality” to his signature low-top sneakers that shook the basketball world. Miss you Kobe! Thank you for all the wonderful memories!
